After defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks behind three runs in the eighth inning on Friday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to complete their fourth straight series win.

While the Diamondbacks have struggled considerably this season, losing 15 straight games, they proved a formidable opponent for the Dodgers in the series opener. Though Arizona’s offense struggled mightily in the face of a stellar outing by Trevor Bauer, their pitching held the Dodgers to just three hits all night and didn’t allow a run until the eighth inning.

Walker Buehler makes his 14th start of the season and looks to build upon a streak of 22 regular season games without suffering a loss, the longest active streak in Major League Baseball. With postseason games included, Buehler’s unbeaten streak sits at 29 starts.

With a win or a no-decision against Arizona, Buehler could tie the Dodgers all-time franchise record for consecutive starts without a loss at 23 — a feat that was accomplished by Kirby Higbe in 1946.

Buehler boasts a 6-0 record on the year and currently holds a career-best 2.38 ERA. The right-hander has not allowed a run over 13 innings in his last two outings.

Rookie Matt Peacock takes the mound for Arizona in his seventh start of the season. Through his current body of work, he has posted a 2-4 record and a 5.26 ERA.

Saturday marks the second time the Dodgers will have faced Peacock this season, and they’ll certainly look to improve upon their last performance against him. In 5.1 innings at Dodger Stadium on May 19, the rookie allowed only four hits and one earned run.

However, Peacock has given up three earned in each of his last three starts and hasn’t pitched more than five innings at any point during that stretch.

Every game is proving to be of the utmost importance for the Dodgers, as the National League West-leading San Francisco Giants continue to sit atop the standings. Having won five straight, the Giants now are 2.5 games ahead of the Dodgers for first place.
