Coming off the heels of a sixth consecutive series win, the Los Angeles Dodgers begin their season-long, 10-game road trip with another matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals have had a rough season so far and currently are in last place of the National League Central with a 17-26 record. However, the Cardinals can’t be underestimated.

They’re on a bit of a roll as of late, winning eight of their last 10 games — including an 18-1 blowout against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers on Monday — since snapping an eight-game losing streak.

The Dodgers swept the Cardinals in their three-game series at Dodger Stadium during the final week of April, outscoring them 14-6 in the process.

With the Dodgers bullpen just having covered 21 innings during the Minnesota Twins series, they could use some length from Julio Urías in what oddly is his first career start against the Cardinals. Urías previously faced them in a relief appearance during the 2018 season.

He is coming off a seven-inning start, which matched a season high. Overall this year, Urías is 5-3 with a 3.61 ERA, 4.37 FIP and 1.07 WHIP in 52.1 innings pitched over nine starts.

Urías faces a Cardinals lineup that ranks fourth in total bases (651), sixth in batting average (.263) and on-base plus slugging percentage (.786), and seventh in slugging (.436).

The Cardinals counter with Adam Wainwright, who doesn’t have a decision this season and has pitched to a 7.20 ERA and 1.70 WHIP.

Prior to the game the Dodgers recalled Justin Bruihl and Andre Jackson from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Dustin May was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain and Dylan Covey was designated for assignment as the corresponding roster move.
