The Los Angeles Dodgers snapped their two-game losing streak and now have an opportunity to earn a split of the wraparound series against the Atlanta Braves.

The finale at Truist Park sees Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Max Fried on the mound for what could be a pitchers’ duel. Monday’s start is Yamamoto’s second since coming off the 60-day injured list.

He dazzled last week against the Chicago Cubs by holding them to just three hits and one unearned run while collecting eight strikeouts over four innings. Yamamoto efficiently got through the outing on 59 pitches.

The right-hander presumably is in position to be stretched out to around 75 pitches or five innings against the Braves.

Yamamoto continuing to build up and be successful will be instrumental for the Dodgers’ postseason hopes in the wake of Tyler Glasnow being ruled out from pitching again this year because of a right elbow sprain.

There’s also uncertainty with the outlooks for Clayton Kershaw and Gavin Stone.

Meanwhile, Fried is making his 27th start of the season. He enters 9-9 with a 3.46 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, and faces the Dodgers for a second time this year. Fried allowed four runs over seven innings and took a loss at Dodger Stadium on May 5.

The southpaw is coming off a similar performance against the Washington Nationals last week, but prior to that held the Toronto Blue Jays scoreless across seven innings.

Fried faces a Dodgers lineup that has Freddie Freeman in the cleanup spot for a second time in the past three games. Freeman hit fourth for the first time in his Dodgers career on Saturday. Teoscar Hernández is again batting third as part of the change.

The Dodgers placed Austin Barnes on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left big toe and recalled Hunter Feduccia from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The fracture is in a different place than the break Barnes suffered last month.
