While Yasiel Puig has battled some inconsistency at the plate this season, he’s played a steady, if not stellar right field. Puig made arguably the play of the year with a throw from a few feet inside the warning track at Coors Field to nail Trevor Story on his attempt at a triple.
Puig’s missile from over 300 feet away came on a play where he recovered from a leaping catch attempt at the right field fence. Then with Clayton Kershaw working on a no-hitter and the Dodgers mired in a six-game losing streak, Puig hustled over to field an Alexei Ramirez base hit that landed just fair inside the first base line to throw Ramirez out at second base.
Most recently in Toronto, Puig threw out former teammate Darwin Barney on his attempt to stretch a single to a double. The dynamic right fielder made another impressive play in the four-game series opener against the New York Mets on Monday night.
