The last couple of months have not been easy for anyone in the United States, as essentially the entire country has been shut down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were in the midst of a successful Spring Training, preparing for a World Series run in 2020, when Major League Baseball decided to send everyone home so they can shelter in place to stay safe during this difficult time.

As time passes and the country continues to work on flattening the curve, there have been talks about when baseball will return. There have been some refuting reports, but it seems they are targeting the beginning of July for Opening Day, which would be great news for the Dodgers and all other teams.

In the meantime though, everyone should continue practicing physical distancing so that baseball and normal life can return as quickly as possible. To this point, everyone has been doing a great job of that, which is why the number of cases are beginning to drop.

That is also a huge credit to the essential workers that have been working extremely hard and risking their own lives during this difficult time. Dodgers legendary manager Tommy Lasorda recognizes the work that doctors, nurses and frontline workers are doing and wanted to give them a thank you shoutout, via AM 570 LA Sports:

Lasorda is 92 years of age so it is good to see that he is in his home staying safe to avoid getting coronavirus. He recently put out another video urging people to do the same so that everyone can get back to watching Dodger Baseball.

Whenever baseball is able to return, the Dodgers should be considered one of the favorites to win the World Series. They return a club that won a franchise-record 106 games in 2019 and also added Mookie Betts, David Price and Blake Treinen, among others.

L.A. is also better equipped than perhaps any other club to deal with the circumstances they are facing due to their depth and veteran presence in the clubhouse. Hopefully they can finally get over the top in 2020 so Lasorda can celebrate his first World Series championship since the Dodgers last won it when he was the manager in 1988.
