The Los Angeles Dodgers returned to Dodger Stadium for a five-game homestand on Tuesday night and got off to a good start as they shut out the Oakland Athletics, 4-0.
As is often the case for games at Dodger Stadium, a celebrity was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and utter Vin Scully’s famous phrase, ‘It’s time for Dodger baseball’ before the game.
On Tuesday night it was a famous athlete who also calls this city home, in Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley. He did so while wearing a Jackie Robinson t-shirt under his custom jersey.
Gurley not only had a chance to throw out the first pitch, which was a strike right down the middle, but he also had a chance to meet and mingle with some of the Dodgers players, via the Rams official Twitter account:
Nothing like taking in a little #Dodgers baseball!

Gurley is coming off the best season of his career, as he led the NFL with 2,093 scrimmage ayards, to go along with 19 total touchdowns. Gurley was named to the a First-Team All-Pro for his efforts.
The Rams are coming off a successful 11-5 season in which they won their division under first-year head coach Sean McVay. They will look to build off that this year after some big offseason acquisitions.
The night was also a special one for Gurley as he got to meet some fellow University of Georgia alumni in Dodgers players Alex Wood and Kyle Farmer, who was on the receiving end of Gurley’s first pitch.
