The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation held their sixth annual Blue Diamond Gala at Dodger Stadium last week and raised a record $3.6 million to support the organization’s mission to improve education, healthcare, homelessness, and social justice.
Excitement overflowed, both because it was the first time since 2019 the signature event was being held, and due to anticipation of the Jennifer Lopez concert.
Mookie Betts was among the many active and former players on hand for the Blue Diamond Gala. It marked his first time attending the event since arriving to the Dodgers in 2020.
To no surprise, Betts was one of the best dressed players at the Blue Diamond Gala, and he shared an inside look of him preparing for the event on Instagram.
Betts revealed that his suit and shoes were Dolce & Gabbana, his hat was Nick Fouquet and his sunglasses were designed by Garrett Leight.
“Let’s see, I think Mookie is always one of the best dressed in the clubhouse. I think his outfit was probably up there,” Evan Phillips told DodgerBlue.com.
Will Smith agreed that Betts was “probably” the best dressed player at the Blue Diamond Gala, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts also spoke highly of the 2018 American League MVP’s outfit.
“It’s great,” Roberts said of the players dressing up. “I see Clayton down there in this Dodger Blue tux with the bowtie, Mookie is always dressed to the nines. I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone looks.”
Mookie Betts injury update
Betts twice was a late scratch from the Dodgers lineup last week and although X-rays on his right ribs came back negative, an MRI revealed a small fracture.
Betts was subsequently placed on the 10-day injured list and hopes to return in two weeks.
