Dodgers Video: Mookie Betts Talks Bowling, Jackie Robinson Documentary, NLDS & More On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

With the Los Angeles Dodgers in the midst of off days before hosting Game 1 of the National League Division Series, Mookie Betts appeared on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” late-night talk show to discuss his passion for bowling, serving as a producer for a new Jackie Robinson documentary airing on Fox Sports 1, and more.

Although Betts still has several years remaining on his contract with the Dodgers, Kimmel asked the six-time All-Star about retirement and assumed it would entail plenty of bowling.

Betts has a longstanding passion for the sport and has bowled a 300 on multiple occasions, but stopped short of saying that would fill the void after baseball.

Betts relayed his wife Brianna has joked he will experience a midlife crisis at some point after retiring.

Betts’ interview with Kimmel also touched on baseball as the Dodgers await an NLDS opponent. Like Gavin Lux and Chris Taylor wound up expressing prior to a workout at Dodger Stadium on Friday night, Betts said he wouldn’t much of the series between the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets despite its implications for the Dodgers.

The interview ended with Kimmel gifting Betts a bowling ball attached to a chain that he joked could be worn with his other necklaces.

Mookie Betts behind Jackie Robinson documentary

Fox Sports Film announced “Jackie Robinson: Get to the Bag,” an immersive hip-hop documentary that puts a spotlight on the Dodgers icon’s career. It’s due to premiere on Fox Sports 1 (FS1) on Wednesday, October 12.

“Oftentimes we focus on the accolades of what players do on the field or courts, when the true essence of who we are, is our contribution to building and enriching our communities and those within it,” Betts said of the film.

“We’ve heard the stories of Mr. Jackie Robinson’s activism and contribution to baseball, but now I am honored to help tell the story of Jackie Robinson, the entrepreneur through this film.”

The documentary not only focuses on Robinson’s playing career but his activism and trailblazing off the field as well.
