Max Muncy is among the list of Los Angeles Dodgers injuries that have impacted the team over recent weeks, and like Andrew Heaney, he is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Muncy was in the OKC lineup Tuesday night for his third game, and he ended it with a walk-off two-run home run. Muncy started at third base and went 1-for-4 with the two RBI and a walk.

Through three games with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, Muncy is 2-for-10 with a home run, two RBI and three walks. He’s twice started at third base and also spent a game at second base. The Dodgers have not specified how long Muncy’s rehab assignment will last.

Manager Dave Roberts did indicate Edwin Ríos going on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain would not change the team’s outlook or approach with Muncy.

Roberts also said the Dodgers are not worried about Muncy’s results while on his rehab assignment.

“I think how he feels in the batter’s box, how he swings, how he’s seeing the baseball, how he feels are the most important things,” Roberts said. “But if it’s two games, if it’s six games, I don’t think anyone knows right now. The challenge for Max is just to be honest with how he feels.”

Muncy is playing through a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow that he suffered when it was also dislocated on the final day of the regular season. His IL stint largely stemmed from Muncy hitting his left elbow against protective netting and a metal bar at Nationals Park.

Muncy hoped for physical and mental break

Along with taking time to allow his damaged elbow to recover, Muncy hoped going on the IL would provide a mental break as well amid a sluggish start to the regular season.
