When the Los Angeles Dodgers announced their 2019 promotional and giveaways calendar, it was comprised of 12 bobblehead dates at Dodger Stadium. At the time, Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager (May 9), Clayton Kershaw (June 18) and Kenley Jansen (Aug. 5) were known dates.
Per usual, the club reveals additional details on bobblehead giveaways after unveiling the initial schedule. Such was the case for Walker Buehler, who was selected for the honor again this season.
Bobblehead giveaways are typically among the most popular home games, which makes for an entertaining atmosphere. Although Buehler did not pitch on his bobblehead night, Bellinger hit a home run — albeit in a loss — for his.
Now Max Muncy will potentially have an opportunity to put on a show as the Dodgers surprised him by announcing a bobblehead night on Wednesday, May 15, for the finale of a two-game series with the San Diego Padres.
Maximum excitement.

As noted, the bobblehead is a first for Muncy. He unexpectedly emerged as a key contributor for the Dodgers last season when called upon because of injuries. Muncy finished with a team-best 35 home runs.
Muncy was one of seven players to slug at least 20 home runs, which set a Dodgers franchise record for most in a single season. He then played the role of hero by hitting just the Dodgers’ third walk-off home run in the postseason when he ended Game 3 of the World Series in thrilling fashion.
Muncy has yet to replicate that same success in 2019, but he and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts remain confident the tide will turn.
