As Spring Training is set to kick off in less than two weeks, the long Major League Baseball offseason has nearly come to a close. For many fans, the unofficial start of the season begins with the annual release of PlayStation’s MLB The Show video game series.
This year’s edition, MLB The Show 19, is set for release on March 26, 2018. Fans that pre-order at Best Buy, GameStop, the PlayStation Store, Target or Walmart will get early access to the game on March 22, the weekend before the game is released to the public.
Bryce Harper is highlighted on this year’s cover and is also featured prominently in the first gameplay trailer despite not yet signing with a new team.
The trailer also includes Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman and 2018 breakout star Max Muncy. He momentarily bobbles a ground ball before recovering and flipping to Clayton Kershaw covering the bag to get the out.
Additional information, such as player ratings, will be made available in the coming weeks. The Dodgers are expected to once again be well-represented atop those rating charts, with Clayton Kershaw, Kenley Jansen, Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, Muncy and others all likely being rated in the 80s or above.
MLB The Show 18 is sold exclusively on PlayStation, with four available versions to purchase ($59.99 Standard, $69.99 MVP, $99.99 Digital Deluxe and $99.99 Gone Yard).
