In recognition of the impact that Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney have made in the local community, the Los Angeles City Council proclaimed Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, as Justin Turner Day in Los Angeles.
Turner was honored during a special ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday, which was part of the 16th annual community service week for the Dodgers that they call the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour.
It is no secret that the Justin Turner Foundation does a lot for the community. Its mission is to support homeless veterans, children (and their families) who are battling life-altering illnesses and diseases, and support youth baseball organizations.
Whether it be building a veteran’s home and having them out to Dodger Stadium for batting practice, visiting sick children in the hospital to gift them Disneyland tickets, or participating in a celebrity softball game to benefit the recent shooting and wildfire tragedies in the state of California, Turner has proven his dedication to bettering the community time and time again.
Below are a handful of videos and pictures recapping Tuesday’s festivities at City Hall.
