Dodgers Video: Justin Turner Kicks 40-Yard Field Goal

With the Los Angeles Dodgers and all other players unable to report to Spring Training this week because of the ongoing MLB lockout, Justin Turner was fully immersed in the excitement surrounding Super Bowl LVI.

The sixth annual Justin Turner Golf Classic was pushed back from its normal January date to coincide with the Super Bowl being played at SoFi Stadium. The Los Angeles Rams fittingly reached it, for a matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

“We pushed the tournament back a week this year and branded our kickoff party as the first official Super Bowl party of the week,” Turner recently said. “It was a huge success. We had a great time. I think it’s going to be 27-24, Rams. It’s going to be a field goal to win it.”

While the Rams did not need a field goal in the final minutes to win the game, they did mount another thrilling comeback to bring the Lombardi Trophy to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Turner showed off his kicking ability by drilling a 40-year field goal with plenty of room to spare.

After the Rams won Super Bowl 56, Turner again took to social media and pitched the idea of a joint parade with the Dodgers, noting their availability because of the lockout.

That doesn’t appear to be coming to fruition as the Rams have scheduled a Super Bowl parade on Wednesday that will begin at the Shrine Auditorium and head down Figueroa Street to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Turner aligned with other Super Bowl predictions

Like Turner, Andre Ethier and Adrian Gonzalez predicted the Rams would defeat the Bengals in the Super Bowl.

“I’ve got Rams all day,” Ethier said. “I’m a de facto Rams fan. Didn’t really have a football team growing up, the Rams got here and my 11-year-old instantly loved the Rams. He wears his (Aaron) Donald jersey every Sunday when the Rams are playing, so we definitely cheer for the Rams in our house.

“My other son is a Cardinals fan, so that goes back and forth pretty heated. I’ve got 24-17, Rams all day. I think it’s about time we add a championship on the Lombardi side for L.A.”
