Dodgers Video: Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw & More Featured In 2022 Holiday Card Narrated By Joe Davis

The Los Angeles Dodgers set a franchise record with 111 wins during the regular season but suffered an early postseason exit at the hands of the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series.

Despite falling short of their goal of winning the World Series, the Dodgers still had plenty to be proud of in what was an eventful year.

With the offseason now in full swing, players are enjoying time with their families and getting ready to celebrate the holidays. Just in time for Christmas, the Dodgers released a video narrated by Joe Davis that recapped the 2022 season.

The holiday card begins with the surprise signing of Freddie Freeman after he was unable to agree to terms with the Atlanta Braves. Featured in the montage was Freeman doubling against the Cincinnati Reds and receiving loud “Freddie!” chants from the Dodger Stadium crowd.

The video then focuses on Clayton Kershaw, who threw seven perfect innings in his regular-season debut against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field and later passed Don Sutton for first place on the Dodgers all-time strikeouts list.

The holiday card continues with a look back to Jackie Robinson Day at Dodger Stadium, which marked the 75th anniversary of the Hall of Famer breaking the color barrier. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gathered the team, front office members and other personnel in front of the Jackie Robinson statue in the center field plaza of Dodger Stadium to celebrate the milestone.

The video then moves forward to the Dodgers retiring Gil Hodges’ No. 14 jersey and adding him to the Ring of Honor. Hodges became the first player the Dodgers honored with a jersey retirement since doing so for Don Sutton and his No. 20 during the 1998 season.

Among other highlights include the unveiling of the Sandy Koufax statue at Dodger Stadium, the 2022 Home Run Derby and MLB All-Star Game, the passings of Vin Scully and Maury Wills, and Jaime Jarrín’s retirement ceremony.

Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation & Baby2Baby host holiday party

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and Baby2Baby hosted more than 500 students from the Los Angeles Unified School District for a holiday party at Dodger Stadium last week that featured an array of activities, presents, photo opportunity with Santa, fun on the field, lunch and more.

“We’re providing students throughout Los Angeles Unified School District with a ton that we think is going to bring them some really holiday cheer,” LADF chief executive officer Nichol Whiteman said.

“They’re taking home blankets, books, toys, hygiene essentials and so many things that some of these students never would have experienced during this holiday season. They also get to participate in a winter wonderland, including a snow hill and being on the field at Dodger Stadium.

“Every Angeleno deserves an opportunity to smile. At this time of year, it can be daunting for families, whether that’s because of violence in the neighborhood, lack of food or shelter, and lack of basic necessities. So it’s really important for us to be able to provide for families.”
