The Los Angeles Dodgers welcomed rival San Francisco Giants to Dodger Stadium for a four-game series that began Monday night. As has been the case all season long, the last-place Giants went toe-to-toe with the best team in the National League and this time, came out on top.
Giants rookie starter Tyler Beede, who went into the matchup with an 8.06 ERA and zero Major League wins, turned in the best outing of his career. He limited a potent Dodgers offense to just one run in six innings to earn his first win.
Outside of a long home run from Max Muncy, the Dodgers offense was not able to come up with many hits on the night, resulting in the 3-2 loss.
A young Dodgers fan was able to provide a highlight though as he made an outstanding catch on a foul ball off the bat of Joc Pederson, hanging onto his sandwich in the process, via ESPN:

Pederson was in the midst of an 0-for-28 slump when he hit that foul ball, although he went on to end that with an infield single in his next at-bat in the fifth inning.
This wasn’t the first time a Dodgers fan has put food on the line to catch a ball, although this fan at Oracle Park during another series against the Giants earlier this season wasn’t as lucky as he lost his fries and pizza going after two separate foul balls, via MLB:

REAL LIFE: The guy who lost the fries just dropped a slice of pizza. 😂 pic.twitter.com/En2Ea8APre

The effort there was respectable, although the woman in front of him couldn’t have enjoyed getting pizza dumped onto her.
Los Angeles will look to get back on track as they host the Giants each of the next three nights before welcoming the second-place Colorado Rockies to town for a weekend series.
