Shortly after first pitch in the series opener between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, Ed Sheeran took the stage not far from Dodger Stadium for another stop on the North American leg of his ÷ Tour (pronounced “divide tour”).
The Friday night show was the second of three performances Sheeran is making at Staples Center. In addition to Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” topping the charts in 2017, it’s been played throughout the season at Dodger Stadium as Justin Turner’s walk-up song.
Sheeran and Turner are of course two of the most-recognizable redheads in their respective professions. While Sheeran performed in his signature HOAX clothing black t-shirt, he ditched it once it came time for an encore.
In a sign of reciprocity, Sheeran donned a Turner Dodgers jersey to perform “Shape of You.” The official Staples Center Twitter account shared a clip of the night’s final performance:

Turner took to Twitter himself to express his gratitude and offer tickets to a game at Dodger Stadium:
Still can't believe @edsheeran threw on my jersey for his encore of "Shape of You" last night! Anytime you want to stop @Dodgers Stadium LMK pic.twitter.com/hFxM2ssOmZ

The Grammy Award-winning artist has a brief break in his tour after Saturday’s show, which in theory makes Sunday’s series finale a plausible Dodgers game he can attend.
