Blake Snell joined the recent social media trend of gently carrying his dogs toward a wall to see if they instinctively put their paws up to stop themselves from touching it.
If the dog quickly puts its paws up to brace itself, it is considered “smart” and passing the test.
However, the trend is more about the dog’s natural reflexes and trust in its owner rather than complex problem-solving.
To Snell’s amusement, both of his dogs did not put their paws up in time before hitting the wall.
The left-hander just completed the first of a five-year, $182 million contract he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 2024 offseason.
He went 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 10.6 strikeouts per nine in 61.1 innings pitched across 11 starts this year.
Snell then turned in a 3-2 record with a 3.18 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10.9 strikeouts per nine in six playoff appearances (five starts).
Because he spent 119 days on the injured list due to left shoulder inflammation, the Dodgers could potentially pick up a $10 million club option for 2030 on Snell.

Current and former professional athletes make for the best subjects because they are objectively more athletic than most people.
Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Will Smith and Will Klein were all posed the question and offered different responses. Among the more amusing were Klein being aware of the bait and calling it out immediately, and Edman responding by asking if the question pertained to the A’s baseball team.
