Dodgers Video: Adrian Gonzalez, Justin Turner And Yasmani Grandal Provide Late Offense Against Tigers

Hyun-Jin Ryu worked out of multiple jams, including striking out Miguel Cabrera on three pitches to leave the bases loaded in the third, to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers in position for a win against the Detroit Tigers.

Ryu’s five scoreless innings were matched — and bested — by 2016 American League Rookie of the Year Michael Fulmer. He carried a shutout into the seventh inning, only to lose it because of a two-base error.

Curtis Granderson lifted a pop-up back of third base that Nicholas Castellanos struggled to locate and let drop. The Tigers being in a shift didn’t do Castellanos any favors, as he was the lone infielder on the left side.

Fulmer walked Yasmani Grandal to extend the inning, then allowed an RBI single to Adrian Gonzalez that broke the scoreless tie. The RBI was Gonzalez’s second in as many games since returning from the 60-day disabled list.

Justin Turner provided insurance in the eighth inning with a two-out solo home run. Grandal tacked on a final run for the Dodgers by going opposite field for a solo homer in the ninth. With their 3-0 victory, the Dodgers extended their Interleague winning streak to 13 games.

Los Angeles also improved their series record to 18-0-3 since dropping two of three to the Washington Nationals in early June.
