Tyler Glasnow Injury: Dodgers Starter Leaves Game Vs. Rangers

The Los Angeles Dodgers again are having to navigate multiple injuries to their pitching staff, with Tyler Glasnow the latest to fall victim.

Glasnow completed four scoreless innings on Sunday before being removed from his start against the Texas Rangers due to lower leg cramps. Glasnow threw 52 pitches and struck out six batters while allowing three hits and issuing one walk.

The right-hander was initially checked on by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and head athletic trainer Thomas Albert after getting back-to-back strikeouts in the fourth inning. It was a brief conversation, however, as Glasnow assured them he was fine.

Glasnow provided more reason for confidence health wasn’t an issue as he finished off the fourth inning by striking out the side. But upon throwing a 93.7 mph fastball to begin the fifth, Austin Barnes, Roberts, Albert and Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior went out to the mound for another visit.

That instance ended with Glasnow walking off the field with a noticeable limp.

Luis García entered and retired the two batters faced before giving way to Anthony Banda, who completed the inning without issue to keep the game scoreless.

After having his 2024 season end early because of right elbow tendinitis, Glasnow spent the offseason working on mechanical adjustments to maintain better health. He and the Dodgers were encouraged by the changes and the 31-year-old was off to a strong start this season.

Glasnow did come unglued against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 6 — largely due to rainy weather — but he otherwise allowed two earned runs or fewer in three other starts, including the series finale at Globe Life Field.

How can Dodgers replace Tyler Glasnow?

The Dodgers already are somewhat short on available starting pitchers, and losing Glasnow to injury would only exacerbate that. However, Tony Gonsolin does appear to be on the verge of finishing his rehab assignment, and the Dodgers conceivably could turn to Justin Wrobleski or Landon Knack, and potentially Bobby Miller, for spot starts.
