The Los Angeles Dodgers had their six-game winning streak snapped by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday despite Tyler Glasnow turning in a solid performance in his first start off the 60-day injured list.
The right-hander allowed three runs on six hits and collected seven strikeouts without issuing a walk over five innings. He was able to finish on a good note after giving up all three of the runs in a 35-pitch first inning.
“I think just switching up a little bit,” Glasnow said on SportsNet LA when asked how he was able to get back on track. “I think I was pretty fastball-heavy the first inning, a little bit predictable. Not a ton of hard-hit balls, but it’s just how it goes sometimes.
“I think coming out in the second, I felt more in rhythm, slider was working a lot better and just felt a lot better.”
Glasnow at one point recorded five consecutive strikeouts and needed only 54 pitches to get through his final four innings. He generated 15 whiffs on the night, including 13 after the first inning.
Tuesday was Glasnow’s first start at the Major League level since May 6, when he left an outing against the Houston Astros in the second inning with lower back spasms. It was a long road back for the former All-Star, but he is relieved to finally feel healthy again.
“It felt like a long time,” Glasnow said of his lengthy rehab process. “I think anytime you’re out that long, just doing rehab the whole time, it definitely sucks. So it’s exciting to be able to get back. I’m glad my body is in a spot where I felt like I was before. Glad I feel healthy and my stuff feels good.”
Glasnow completed a lengthy rehab assignment before rejoining the Dodgers, going 0-1 with a 1.32 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 13.2 innings over four starts.

Glasnow has made just eight starts with the Dodgers this season, posting a 3-0 record with a 3.02 ERA, 2.90 FIP, 0.87 WHIP and 11.3 strikeouts per nine in 44.2 innings of work. The 33-year-old has been dominant in his limited action, so the key will be staying healthy for the stretch run.
Glasnow’s return brought the Dodgers rotation closer to full strength. They are now waiting on Shohei Ohtani, who could potentially start as soon as Sunday against the Detroit Tigers.
