The start of the 2021 regular season has put the spotlight on the Los Angeles Dodgers, both because they are defending World Series and due to various product releases either related to that or just inspired by the storied franchise.
Next on the list is a Dodgers-themed Nike LeBron 7 “Baseball Blue,” which goes on sale Friday, April 9, on the SNKRS app at 7 a.m. PT. L.A. Lakers star LeBron James first unveiled the pair during the team’s championship run last season.
With the Dodgers and Lakers both in the playoffs and having games on the same night, James laced up his white and blue LeBron 7 for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
A blue overlay wraps around the shoe, matching a Swoosh on the shoe’s lateral side. Chrome silver details the heel, collar and lace tabs. To further lock in the baseball theme, red stitching and “L23” logos offer contrast.
James wearing the Dodgers-inspired model was not the first time he’d shown support for the team since signing with the Lakers. He’s worn a Dodgers cap on multiple occasions and arrived for a game dressed in a Jackie Robinson jersey to celebrate Black History Month.
The release of James’ signature shoe comes shortly after a Dodgers-based Nike Cortez was made available, similar to a release for the 2019 season.
Dodgers gold series
As defending World Series champions, the Dodgers will wear a gold series jersey and cap for their weekend set against the Washington Nationals. It has become commonplace for the reigning champion to participate in the MLB gold program, though the New York Yankees elected not to in 2010.
The Dodgers’ home white uniform features gold trim and “VII” on the sleeve to commemorate the franchise’s seven championships. The “LA” logo on their caps is also outlined in gold. Products will go on sale Friday at 12 p.m. PT at Dodger Stadium, Dodgers Clubhouse stores and MLBShop.com.
