Several members of the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers roster have made the rounds of late, which has included appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and attending Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Chargers games.

Looking ahead to December, the likes of Teoscar Hernández and Miguel Rojas are among those scheduled to support Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in raising money for La Gente del Barrio Foundation, the VG 27 Foundation, and other charitable partners.

La Gente del Barrio (LGDB) was founded in 2020 by Blue Jays hitting coach Hector “Tito” Lebron. It was created with the goal of celebrating the culture, the hustle, and the heartbeat of the neighborhoods that raised MLB players of all backgrounds.

Specifically, there is a focus on players from Latin American countries. Hernández and Guerrero are listed as official spokesmen on the LGDB website, among others like Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Alejandro Kirk.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, loanDepot park will host a doubleheader in the form of a Celebrity Softball Game and Home Run Derby presented by La Gente del Barrio Foundation.

Hernández is confirmed to be competing in the Home Run Derby portion, while it remains unclear what event Rojas will compete in.

For Guerrero and Hernández, the event represents an opportunity to meet and catch up on friendlier terms after just competing in the World Series. The two men teammates from 2019-2022, before Hernández was traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2023.

With Hernández playing against Guerrero and the Blue Jays in the World Series, he saw up close how much his former teammate had grown into a leadership role.

“I think the only difference that I see on him is that he understands now that he has to be the leader of that group and that he has to do things and then the team are going to follow him because that’s the way everybody was seeing him since the first day he got into the league,” Hernández said.

“When we were there, I always told him that he’s the face of the organization, and he has to be a leader for the group.”

The Blue Jays offense gave opponents all they could handle throughout postseason, and Guerrero was a large part of that. Hernández said the Blue Jays superstar took the leap to become a leader once he realized the impact he could have.

“I think the way they play,” Hernández said. “Being in first place almost the whole season and understanding the things that they can do as a team, I think that was the key for him to get past the regular player that he was before, and just taking the pride in the position as a leader of that group.”

Final rosters of participating players and celebrities for both events are expected to be revealed soon.

Teoscar Hernández became Dodgers’ first Home Run Derby winner

Hernández is no stranger to a Home Run Derby, having recently won in 2024. He hit 49 total homers during the event, including 14 in the final round to beat Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals.

Hernández represented the 14th time the Dodgers had a participant. Overall, a total of 12 Dodgers have been in the Home Run Derby since the event began in 1985.

Hernández became the first Derby winner in Dodgers franchise history.
