The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to have one of the best lineups in all of baseball in 2020, and they have been showing why so far in Summer Camp intrasquad scrimmages at Dodger Stadium.
Corey Seager and Edwin Rios have both been locked in at the plate, and that doesn’t even account for some of the team’s best hitters. Max Muncy returned on Tuesday evening after missing a few days with a minor finger injury and did not waste any time getting in the hit column, smoking a single to right and a double to right-center field in his first two at-bats.
The Dodgers’ big offseason acquisition, Mookie Betts, is also starting to look like himself after a slow Spring Training and start to Summer Camp.
He hit his second home run in a Dodger uniform on Tuesday, lifting a leadoff shot off Mitchell White in the bottom of the first inning into the bullpen.

Another outfielder on the Dodgers that left the ballpark was Joc Pederson, launching one halfway up the right-field pavilion later in the first inning for his third of Summer Camp.

With Pederson, Betts and the reigning National League MVP Cody Bellinger, the Dodgers have a chance to have one of the best outfield trios in all of baseball.
Also of note from Tuesday night’s scrimmage, Kenley Jansen made his first appearance after returning from a battle with coronavirus (COVID-19). He said he was feeling game-ready when he reported and proved exactly that by facing four batters and needing just eight pitches to retire them all.
Chico continues to impress
Dodgers clubhouse attendant Francisco “Chico” Herrera has arguably been the most impressive part of Summer Camp so far, filling in by playing the outfield during scrimmages.
While manager Dave Roberts isn’t letting him hit, Chico has made a few impressive plays in left field, creating some social media buzz. That continued on Tuesday night when he robbed Betts of extra bases and made a nice throw to double up Gavin Lux at first base.

While Chico’s days on the field are likely numbered, he has been an outstanding source of entertainment so far during these scrimmages.
