As the Los Angeles Dodgers press on with Summer Camp workouts, much of the discussion has also centered around players from the 60-man pool who have yet to report to Dodger Stadium.

Entering Wednesday, that group consisted of Scott Alexander, Pedro Baez, Tony Gonsolin, Kenley Jansen, Gavin Lux, AJ Pollock and Keibert Ruiz. The Dodgers also are without David Price (opted out of 2020 season) and Jimmy Nelson (season-ending back surgery).

Ahead of the Dodgers’ third intrasquad game of Spring Training 2.0, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he had not seen any of the seven players who were absent. However, he did clarify speculation involving Jansen’s future this year.

“I do know the rumor I just got wind of was that Kenley’s not here because he’s opting out,” Roberts began. “There’s no truth to that.”

Jansen has twice undergone heart surgery, which in some regard puts him at greater risk. But every indication from Jansen has been he plans on playing this year.

Roberts has maintained the absent players will be in camp at some point in the near future. That came to be with Gonsolin, who arrived at Dodger Stadium shortly before intersquad play began, per David Vassegh of AM 570 L.A. Sports:

Zach Reks, Cody Thomas and Edwin Uceta land on injured list

While the Dodgers welcomed Gonsolin to camp, Zach Reks, Cody Thomas and Edwin Uceta each were placed on the injured list. Like with the absent players, Roberts could not reveal why Reks, Thomas and Uceta were sidelined. “I can’t disclose,” he said.

When taking into account the absences and those unavailable, the Dodgers are down to 41 players available for camp. They set an initial player pool of 51, which remains the number amid the various changes.

Roberts said the club will soon add to the player pool from within the organization.
