Dodgers Spring Training Video: Miguel Rojas, Max Muncy, Jason Heyward & More From Workout

The Los Angeles Dodgers braved the elements on Wednesday to hold their third full-squad workout of Spring Training. The day included Tony Gonsolin throwing a bullpen session, drills for position players, and Ryan Pepiot facing batters.

Max Muncy, Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux and Miguel Vargas were among those to work in the infield, while the likes of Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward and Miguel Rojas logged at-bats.

That was notable for Vargas, who is recovering from a hairline fracture in his right pinky finger. It’s prevented Vargas from swinging the bat for multiple days but he’s still managed to continue with defensive work.

Vargas believes he will be recovered in time for the Dodgers’ Cactus League opener on Saturday, though it may be more likely that he isn’t in the lineup until Sunday, when L.A. plays their first game of the spring at Camelback Ranch.

The productive day of work came despite chilly temperatures and swirling wind.

“It’s certainly not ideal, but each day in the big leagues you’ve got to be able to read, react, adjust and go out there and perform,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “We’re going to go out there and guys have to get their work in. We’re not going to change that.”

Roberts announced Michael Grove is slated to start against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday in the first game of the spring. Matt Andriese and Bryan Hudson are also expected to appear in the game at American Family Fields of Phoenix.

Grove figures to be part of the rotation depth needed throughout this season as the right-hander looks to build on making his MLB debut in 2022.
