The early stages of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ title defense began on Monday as pitchers and catchers reported to Camelback Ranch for the start of Spring Training, and the group held their first official workout the following day.

Position players are set to report by Friday and the first full-team workout is scheduled for Saturday. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Chris Taylor and Miguel Rojas are among those who already have arrived in camp.

In his first day at Camelback Ranch, Shohei Ohtani participated in pitching drills off the mound as well as some cage work, a good sign that he is on his way to resuming his two-way player status in 2025.

For a second straight year, the Dodgers are on an accelerated Spring Training schedule because of starting the season internationally.

That comes against the Chicago Cubs with Opening Day in Tokyo Series on March 18. The Dodgers and Cubs then play a second game at the Tokyo Dome on March 19.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shota Imanaga are expected to start in the first Tokyo Series game.
