The 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training schedule begins Thursday afternoon with a matchup against the San Diego Padres that is being televised by both ESPN and SportsNet LA.
The Dodgers’ exclusive network is broadcasting all but one Cactus League game this year and will carry the exhibition contests in South Korea along with the annual Freeway Series before Opening Day.
Meanwhile, ESPN is televising the Dodgers’ first two spring games — both of which are against the Padres — with Kevin Brown, Eduardo Pérez, Tim Kurkjian and Alden González on the call.
For the Cactus League opener at Peoria Sports Complex, James Outman, Teoscar Hernández and Fernando Tatís Jr. are going to be mic’d up by ESPN. The broadcast also is going to carry additional interviews throughout the duration of the game.
Mookie Betts, Chris Taylor and Gavin Lux are additional regulars in the first Dodgers lineup of Spring Training.
For Lux, he returns to the field where his 2023 season ended prematurely because of a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee. He admitted to feeling some anxiousness with playing his first game back in Peoria, but also was excited for the opportunity.
It remains unclear when Shohei Ohtani will make his Dodgers Spring Training debut, as thus far the only benchmark publicly revealed is the two-time American League MVP wanting to log 50 at-bats prior to the start of the season. Ohtani noted those could come in Cactus League play, simulated games or live batting practice.
Dodgers on ESPN
For the regular season, three Dodgers games were selected as part of ESPN’s initial “Sunday Night Baseball” schedule. It begins Dodgers hosting the St. Louis Cardinals on March 31. First pitch at Dodger Stadium is set for 4:10 p.m. PT.
The Dodgers next appear on ESPN for their April 14 home game against the Padres. That start time at Dodger Stadium is 4:10 p.m. as well.
Then on June 9, the series finale between the Dodgers and New York Yankees was selected for the weekly national broadcast on ESPN, in another 4:10 p.m. start time.
