Dodgers Spring Training Highlights: Max Muncy & J.D. Martinez Home Runs Against Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers received home runs from Max Muncy and J.D. Martinez but could only manage a 6-6 tie against the Milwaukee Brewers in their penultimate Cactus League game.

Julio Urías wasn’t particularly sharp in his return from the World Baseball Classic, and Muncy’s error allowed the Brewers to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. He atoned for that in the bottom of the first by driving a go-ahead, two-run homer that hit off the batter’s eye in center field.

The Dodgers added to their lead in the fourth inning when Austin Barnes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, but Urías ran into trouble in the fifth.

Josh VanMeeter and Mike Brosseau connected on back-to-back home runs to tie the game. Victor Caratini’s two-out RBI single put Milwaukee ahead before Urías could get through the inning.

J.D. Martinez tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run, which was his second long ball of the spring. Muncy followed that with a double and Trayce Thompson’s RBI double put the Dodgers back in the lead.

The Brewers scored two runs in the sixth to go up 6-5, and the seesaw affair continued in the seventh inning with Steven Duggar’s sacrifice fly tying the game.

Dodgers returning to LA

After facing the Kansas City Royals in their final Cactus League game, the Dodgers will make their way back to Southern California for the exhibition Freeway Series.

The first matchup with the Los Angeles Angels is Sunday at Dodger Stadium, with two games to follow in Anaheim.
