While Spring Training this year has brought about some normalcy, Wednesday night offered a reminder of changes in place in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Dodgers fell into an immediate deficit as David Peralta opened the game with a solo home run off Clayton Kershaw. He settled in from there to make it through the planned three innings. Kershaw allowed just the one run and had three strikeouts.
“I felt fine. It probably wasn’t as good as the first one, but physically I feel fine,” Kershaw said after his outing.
Although he walked off the mound facing a 1-0 deficit, the Dodgers changed that behind Corey Seager’s two-run home run to left field. The homer was Seager’s second of the spring, and both have come in his past two games.

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks appeared poised to finish in a tie, but Domingo Leyba dropping a fly ball in shallow left field changed the landscape of the game. Luke Raley was left standing on second base as a result, and Rangel Ravelo drove him on a ground-rule double.
That traditionally would have went into the box score as a walk-off hit, but the Dodgers and Diamondbacks continued to play until the final out of the eighth inning was recorded.
Next for Dodgers
Now in the midst of a three-game winning streak in Cactus League play, the Dodgers next face the Seattle Mariners in another night game. Trevor Bauer makes his third start of the spring. On Friday, the Dodgers will hand the ball to Walker Buehler in an afternoon matchup with the Cleveland Indians.
