The Los Angeles Dodgers made four picks on Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft, including the selections of Zach Root, Charles Davalan and Cam Leiter with the Nos. 40, 41 and 65 overall picks.
Root and Davalan were both taken out of the University of Arkansas, while Leiter was drafted from Florida State University in the second round.
They started what ultimately became a 2025 Dodgers draft class that heavily leaned toward college players.
According to Jim Callis of MLB.com, the Dodgers have signed Root, Davalan and Leiter
The Dodgers still thought highly enough of Leiter to take him in the second round and reportedly signed him to a slot-value deal, via Jim Callis of MLB.com:

According to Baseball America, the Dodgers also signed eighth-round pick Jack O’Connor for $158,775, which is below slot value.
Root expressed his excitement to join the Dodgers organization due to rooting for the team as a child and also watching Clayton Kershaw.
Root and Davalan also spoke highly of the opportunity to continue their careers with the same team.
Leiter is the nephew of Al and Mark Leiter, and cousin of Jack and Mark Leiter Jr. Before missing all of 2025 due to injury, Leiter spent two seasons at the University of Central Florida and Florida State University. He went a combined 8-3 with a 4.81 ERA and 1.62 WHIP with 136 strikeouts against 63 walks across 91.2 innings pitched (22 games).
The Dodgers managed to sign Root for more than $2 million below the slot value for the No. 40 overall pick, and also remained under for Davalan and Vidourek. Meanwhile, Leiter’s signing bonus equaled his slot value.
The Dodgers rank 24th among all teams with a total bonus pool of $9,031,300 for their 2025 MLB Draft picks.
Bonus pools are calculated by adding the slot values of every pick through the first 10 rounds. Any signing bonus amount more than $125,000 for draft picks after the 10th round also count against pool money.
