The Los Angeles Dodgers went hitless with the bases loaded in three consecutive innings but still managed to score four runs during that stretch in a 6-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. It gave them a split of the two-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Patrick Corbin faced the minimum and completed three no-hit innings before allowing a leadoff single to Chris Taylor in the bottom of the fourth. He promptly stole second base, and a pair of walks later loaded the bases with one out.

Corbin nearly worked his way out of the jam. He struck out Cody Bellinger but before also fanning Austin Barnes, threw a wild pitch that allowed Taylor to score and tie the game.

Singles by Yasiel Puig and Kyle Farmer and a Taylor walk loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. Corbin that time kept the Dodgers off the board, retiring Kiké Hernandez and Matt Kemp.

Corbin allowed just the one run on three hits, issued four walks and collected seven strikeouts over his five innings of work.

The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the sixth inning, and Farmer’s sacrifice fly broke the tie. Taylor was then hit by a pitch to bring in a run, and a wild pitch allowed another to score.

Chase Utley’s pinch-hit two-run double in the eighth inning gave the Dodgers their first run(s) on a hit in a game. Up to that point they were 1-for-8 with men in scoring position. Oddly, their only hit in those situations was Puig’s single in the sixth that loaded the bases.

Much like when he faced the Diamondbacks at Chase Field last week, Alex Wood was forced to labor through a start. His outing began in strange fashion, as Nick Ahmed hit an inside-the-park home run in the first inning.

Ahmed’s deep fly ball hit off the wall in center field and rolled away from Hernandez, who crashed into the fence. Wood worked around two base hits and Kemp’s error to start the second inning, stranding runners at the corners.

The Diamondbacks loaded the bases with one out in the third, only for Ketel Marte to ground into a double play. Wood needed 94 pitches to get through five innings but he managed to limit the Diamondbacks to one run on five hits.

Arizona scored two runs off J.T. Chargois in the seventh inning before Scott Alexander entered to put out the fire. Alexander worked a 1-2-3 eighth, and Kenley Jansen followed suit in the ninth to earn a save.
