The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will open the 2024 season by facing each in the Seoul Series for MLB’s first ever games played in South Korea.

The two-game set will take place at the Gocheok Sky Dome from March 20-21, with start times of 7:05 p.m. local time/3:05 a.m. PT for both matchups.

The Gocheok Sky Dome is located in Gocheok-dong, Seoul, South Korea, and opened in September 2015. It typically seats up to 16,744 fans for baseball games and is home to the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO League.

But prior to facing off in the regular season in South Korea, the Dodgers and Padres will each have some other games not previously scheduled.

According to Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News, the Dodgers and Padres will play exhibition games against the Heroes, LG Twins of the KBO and the Korean national team before the MLB regular season opener:

Also, #Dodgers and #Padres will the Kiwoom Heroes and the LG Twins of the #KBO and the Korean national team in exhibitions before facing each other for the regular season openers March 20-21. Details on those exhibition games will be announced later.

The Seoul Series is part of the 2024 MLB World Tour, which also includes the Mexico City Series and London Series. Additionally, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays will play a pair of Spring Training games at Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

“We can’t wait to play meaningful Major League games for the very first time in front of the outstanding baseball fans of South Korea next season,” Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said in a statement.

“The Dodgers have a long and proud history of helping to grow the game abroad, highlighted by our trips to Mexico, China and Australia. It’s very exciting to add Korea to the list. I know our players are thrilled to put their talents on display in a country so rich with baseball tradition and talent, including former Dodgers Chan Ho Park, Hee-Seop Choi and Hyun-Jin Ryu.”

When will Dodgers tickets for Seoul Series go on sale?

Yoo previously reported that tickets for the Seoul Series are expected to go on sale January 26 but may be limited to the Coupang Play website and Coupang Wow subscribers, while excluding foreign fans.
