Dodgers Rumors: Noah Miller Acquired In Manuel Margot Trade

When the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Manuel Margot in addition to Tyler Glasnow in their offseason trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, it appeared to rule out potentially re-signing Kiké Hernández, who had interest in remaining with the team.

With a spot on the Dodgers roster seemingly out of the question, Hernández was reported as being in the final stages of making a free agency decision over the weekend. The Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, Minnesota Twins and San Francisco Giants made up the group of teams in the stretch run for his services.

But that quickly changed Monday as Hernández agreed to re-sign with the Dodgers on the heels of Margot getting traded to the Twins.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Dodgers also included shortstop prospect Rayne Doncon in their trade with the Twins and acquired Noah Miller:

Miller is a shortstop prospect himself, and one who projects as having a strong glove but questions surrounding his bat.

The Twins selected Miller in competitive balance round A of the 2021 MLB Draft. Last year he hit just .223/.309/.340 with eight home runs and 60 RBI over 120 games for High-A Cedar Rapids.

In 250 games over parts of three Minor League seasons, Miller has hit .220/.326/.318 with 35 doubles, 12 home runs and 98 RBI.

Dodgers shortstop prospects

Miller joins Trey Sweeney and Jonedry Vargas as notable shortstop prospects in the Dodgers organization.

Sweeney was acquired from the New York Yankees this past offseason in exchange for Victor González and Jorbit Vivas in a trade that was driven by the Dodgers needing to make room on their 40-man roster.
