Amid their search for bullpen help early in the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Lou Trivino to a Minor League contract on May 10.
Trivino was called up just over a week later and quickly provided the Dodgers with a quality arm. That earned him increased high-leverage opportunities, but that was a role Trivino fell out of as the bullpen started to stabilize and he regressed.
The Dodgers ended up designating Trivino for assignment on July 21 and released him six days later.
Now, Trivino has caught on with a new team, signing a Minor League deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic:

This marks a third organization Trivino has been with in 2025. Along with the Dodgers, he also spent time with the San Francisco Giants.
The journeyman reliever has spent the majority of his career with the Oakland Athletics, and also had a stint with the New York Yankees in 2022.
Trivino made 26 appearances for the Dodgers, allowing 11 runs in 26.1 innings (3.76 ERA). Prior to joining the Dodgers, he went 1-0 with a 5.84 ERA in 12.1 innings and 11 strikeouts with the Giants.
Overall this year, Trivino has thrown 38.2 innings with a 4.42 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 17.2% strikeout rate and 7.7% walk rate. Opposing hitters are batting .265 against him, and he has a fip of 5.02.
Lou Trivino’s MLB career
Trivino has been in the Major Leagues parts over parts of six seasons with the Athletics (2018-2022), Yankees (2022) and Giants (2025), throwing 323.1 innings with a 24-26 record and a 3.92 ERA.
Trivino was drafted by the A’s in the 11th round of the 2013 MLB Draft and made his debut five years later on April 17, 2018.
By the 2021 season, he became the A’s closer and recorded 37 saves in his career with them, but he was traded to the Yankees in 2022 along with Frankie Montas.
During the 2023 season, Trivino suffered a right elbow strain and required Tommy John surgery that kept him out until 2025 when he signed a Minor League deal with the Giants.
