The Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation was expected to be a strength for the team this season, but the group has fallen victim to inconsistent performances and a rash of injuries.

As it currently stands, Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May and Emmet Sheehan all remain on the injured list. Kershaw, Sheehan, Gonsolin and May are yet to pitch this season.

Kershaw and May should return during the second half, but Gonsolin likely won’t take the mound until 2025. Sheehan also is out for the year after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

The Dodgers have been forced to tap into their organizational depth at various points this year, and next is Justin Wrobleski being in line to make his MLB debut on Sunday in the series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ midseason homegrown rotation reinforcements are beginning to materialize, as the club is expected to call up left-handed pitching prospect Justin Wrobleski to make a spot start on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers, according to multiple league sources.

Tyler Glasnow is starting Friday night and James Paxton is the probable to take the ball in the middle game of the Brewers series at Dodger Stadium.

That left Bobby Miller lined up to start Sunday on regular rest had the Dodgers not elected to turn to a spot starter. Before settling on Wrobleski, manager Dave Roberts said another option was a bullpen game.

Miller is yet to record a decision and has pitched to a 6.75 ERA while allowing opponents to bat .280/.390/.540 in three starts since coming off the 15-day injured list. He missed nearly seven weeks because of right shoulder inflammation.

What to know about Justin Wrobleski

The Dodgers selected Wrobleski in the 11th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, but he did not pitch until the following year because of still recovering from Tommy John surgery.

In April 2023, Wrobleski pitched an immaculate inning for High-A Great Lakes. The left-hander began this season with Double-A Tulsa, where he went 5-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 67.2 innings pitched across 13 starts before earning a promotion.

Since joining Triple-A Oklahoma City, Wrobleski is 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA in two starts.

Wrobleski features a fastball that sits in the upper 90s, and also throws a cutter, curveball and changeup.
