In the days leading up to Major League Baseball’s deadline for an initial player pool to be submitted, Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said the club would not immediately fill all 60 available slots.

“Our thought process in putting together the 60-man is trying to balance whether or not this might be the only reps some of our prospects get this year,” he said. “There’s just a lot that’s up in the air.”

The Dodgers went on to announce a player pool that was comprised of 51 players. It included all members of the 40-man roster and some of the organization’s top prospects. In the time since setting that group, the Dodgers reportedly added former All-Star relief pitcher AJ Ramos.

After their first official workout of Spring Training 2.0, the Dodgers have reportedly added Devin Mann to their player pool as well, per The Republic:

Devin Mann is headed for the bright lights of Los Angeles.

The 2015 Columbus North graduate has been put on the 60-man roster that the Dodgers will employ for the abbreviated 2020 Major League Baseball season. He likely will leave for Los Angeles sometime in the coming week.

The Dodgers selected Mann in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, and he essentially spent all of last season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga. He was among seven Quakes players selected to the California League All-Star Game.

Mann appeared in 98 games for the Quakes, batting .278/.358/.496 with 19 doubles, 19 home runs and 63 RBI. By being added to the Dodgers’ player pool, Mann is going to have the benefit of keeping active this year despite the 2020 Minor League season being cancelled.

The 23-year-old not only will be able to work out with the Dodgers, but he also will be eligible to make his MLB debut. Mann has experience at first base, second base and third base over his young professional career.
