Over recent years the Los Angeles Dodgers have not only experienced roster turnover but changes to their coaching staff and throughout the front office, among other areas of the organization.
While the likes of Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen could still join Corey Seager in departing via free agency, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman recently indicated he anticipated manager Dave Roberts’ coaching staff remaining intact.
However, it recently began to appear as though it would undergo potential change as Bob Geren and Clayton McCullough both interviewed with the New York Mets for their managerial vacancy.
But after conducting the first round of interviews with more than a handful of candidates, Geren and McCullough no longer are in the running. According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Mets are down to deciding between Buck Showalter, Joe Espada and Matt Quatraro:
Mets manager finalists: Showalter, Espada, Quatraro

Even as the Mets were meeting with a slew of managerial candidates last week, the general consensus has been Showalter is the frontrunner and the preferred choice of recent signee Max Scherzer.
Geren worked as the Mets bench coach from 2012-15 before being hired by the Dodgers. He was previously considered for the Mets manager job in 2017 before they opted to hire Mickey Callaway to lead their franchise. Since then, the Mets have had three different managers.
Geren also interviewed with the San Francisco Giants for their managerial opening before they hired Gabe Kapler, but he was not among the finalists for the job.
McCullough, who has managerial experience in the Minors, also interviewed with the Giants before Kapler was hired.
Will Dodgers sign Roberts to extension?
While the Dodgers coaching staff may return in its entirety for the 2022 season, it remains plausible Roberts will enter the campaign with that being the final year on his contract.
Roberts has expressed hope an extension would be agreed to this offseason, which Friedman recently suggested was merely a matter of time.
