Dodgers Roster: Noah Davis Recalled, Luis García Designated For Assignment

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Noah Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma City and designated Luis García for assignment prior to Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.

While the Dodgers’ DFA decision on García corresponded to Davis joining the team, it also made room on the team’s 40-man roster for Edgardo Henriquez to come off the 60-day injured list. Henriquez was optioned to Oklahoma City immediately upon being activated.

For García, his time with the Dodgers potentially is coming to an end days after he returned from the injured list himself. The veteran had been out since June 1 because of a right adductor strain.

At the time of being lost to injury, García ranked third on the team with 26 appearances. He additionally was second among all Dodgers relievers with 26 innings pitched.

García’s IL stint was backdated to May 29, though that wound up being a moot point as he missed more than 15 days from June 1. He made just one rehab appearance while out, starting and throwing a scoreless inning for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on June 22.

The Dodgers activated García on June 26, and he made back-to-back appearances against the Royals.

García went 2-0 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 28 games for the Dodgers before getting designated for assignment. He joined the organization during the offseason by signing a Minor League contract.

Noah Davis back up with Dodgers

Davis was recalled by the Dodgers for a fourth time this season. His longest stint with the team was one week, from April 18-25.

Davis was acquired on March 27 via trade with the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.

Davis has gone 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in four appearances with L.A. While with Oklahoma City, the right-hander is 2-0 with three saves, a 4.34 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 20 games (two starts).
