The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Max Muncy off the 10-day injured list and optioned Chuckie Robinson to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to their series opener against the Colorado Rockies.
Robinson returns to the Comets after being recalled by the Dodgers last week when Dalton Rushing was placed on the 10-day IL due to a right shin contusion.
Robinson has not appeared in a game for the Dodgers since being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on May 31, when Tyler Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day IL.
The Dodgers designated Robinson for assignment on June 3 but he cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A.
Robinson is hitting .259/.344/.361 with five doubles, four home runs, 28 RBI and 43 runs scored in 47 games for the Comets this season.
Max Muncy returns
Muncy is back with the Dodgers for the first time since Aug. 12. He missed nearly one month because of a Grade 1 right oblique strain. Muncy also spent time on the injured list earlier this season due to a left knee bone bruise.
Muncy began a rehab assignment with the Comets last week and went 2-for-7 in three games.
The 35-year-old had a chance to rejoin the Dodgers for their series against the Baltimore Orioles, but that never came to fruition due to Muncy falling under the weather and delaying the start of his rehab assignment.
Now healthy again, the Dodgers hope Muncy’s second return from the IL this season is just as impactful as his first.
Muncy hit a scorching .348/.531/.870 with eight doubles, four home runs and nine RBI in eight games during the month of August before his oblique injury.
Overall, Muncy is hitting .258/.389/.491 with 10 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs and 64 RBI in 89 games this year. Muncy’s .880 on-base plus slugging ranks third on the Dodgers behind only Shohei Ohtani (1.001) and Will Smith (.902).
