The Los Angeles Dodgers made a pair of moves for their bullpen prior to their game against the San Diego Padres, recalling J.P. Feyereisen and Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City. To make room on the roster, Bobby Miller and Connor Brogdon were placed on the 15-day injured list.
Feyereisen opened the year on the Dodgers roster for the Seoul Series but he was optioned prior to their domestic opener at Dodger Stadium. He pitched one inning in South Korea, giving up three runs in one inning via the home run while striking out one hitter.
The Dodgers originally acquired Feyereisen prior to the 2023 season after he underwent shoulder surgery that was set to keep him out for the year.
In 22 games with the Rays in 2022, the right-hander did not allow an earned run in 24.1 innings. He also carried a 33.5% whiff rate and a .181 expected batting average, while walking 5.8% of batters faced.
Feyereisen also spent parts of two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers. He holds a career 2.58 ERA in 90.2 innings.
Ramirez was acquired earlier this month from the New York Yankees for cash considerations after he was designated for assignment.
The Southern California native made 32 appearances for the Yankees in 2023, striking out 28 batters in 40.2 innings. He also finished the season with a career-best 2.66 ERA while recording one save in two chances.
Ramirez also limited walks and the long ball incredibly well, so despite his low strikeout rate, he was still able to post a 2.94 FIP.
Ramirez has been in the Major Leagues parts of four seasons with the Detroit Tigers (2019-20), San Diego Padres (2021) and Yankees (2023), posting a 4.04 ERA in 96 games.
Dodgers placed Bobby Miller and Connor Brogdon on IL
Miller was placed in the IL with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to April 10.
Miller made three starts this season, posting a 1-1 record with a 5.40 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 11.2 innings. He is in his second season with the team, going a combined 12-5 with a 3.90 ERA with 137 strikeouts in 136.0 innings in 25 Major League starts.
Brogdon heads to the IL with right plantar fasciitis, also backdated to April 10. He made his Dodger debut on Tuesday, allowing two runs in one inning of work.
In four appearances with the Philadelphia Phillies and Dodgers this season, he has allowed eight runs on five hits in three innings. He is in his fifth season, going a combined 10-8 with a 3.97 ERA in 143 games (two starts).
