The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Garrett Cleavinger on the 10-day injured list due to left forearm inflammation and recalled Alex Vesia from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cleavinger’s IL stint is retroactive to Monday.

The left-hander last pitched over the weekend against the Miami Marlins, issuing a walk and recording two outs. On the season Cleavinger is 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA in eight games.

Cleavinger previously had a brush with injury when he was struck by a line-drive comebacker in the left triceps. He dealt with some soreness and didn’t appear in the next two games but avoided a stint on the IL.

The Dodgers acquired Cleavinger from the Philadelphia Phillies last December in a three-team trade that also involved the Tampa Bay Rays.

Vesia is back with the team one day after being optioned as one of the two corresponding moves to adding Albert Pujols and Yoshi Tsutsugo to the active roster.

Vesia has allowed three runs on one hit in four innings across three appearances this year. He was acquired from the Marlins, along with Kyle Hurt, in exchange for Dylan Floro.

Dodgers injuries

Cleavinger becomes the 14th player the Dodgers have on the IL, which includes Caleb Ferguson and Tommy Kahnle; both of whom are unlikely to pitch this season as they recover from respective Tommy John surgeries.

Dustin May also is on the 60-day IL after undergoing surgery to repair the damaged ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

The Dodgers have a total of seven pitchers on the injured list, with none expected to return in the immediate future. Brusdar Graterol threw off a mound Tuesday for the first time since being sidelined by right forearm soreness, and Scott Alexander is still considered to be weeks away.

That also applies to Tony Gonsolin, but he is steadily building up and is scheduled to pitch two innings for Oklahoma City this week. Gonsolin was transferred to the 60-day IL in order to make the signing of Pujols official, and isn’t eligible to be activated until May 31

L.A. did just welcome back David Price after he missed three weeks with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain.
