Dodgers Roster: Edgardo Henriquez Transferred To 60-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Edgardo Henriquez to the 60-day injured list in order to make room on their 40-man roster for the addition of Eddie Rosario.

Rosario joined the Dodgers for the start of their road trip due to Shohei Ohtani being placed on the paternity list. Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, are expecting the birth of their first child this weekend.

Henriquez (fractured left foot) was among nine pitchers to begin the season on the Dodgers’ injured list.

The group also included Tony Gonsolin (back tightness), Brusdar Graterol (right shoulder surgery), Michael Grove (right shoulder surgery), Kyle Hurt (right elbow surgery), Clayton Kershaw (left toe surgery), Michael Kopech (right shoulder impingement), Evan Phillips (right rotator cuff strain) and Emmett Sheehan (right elbow surgery).

In addition to Henriquez, Graterol, Grove, Hurt, Kershaw, Sheehan and Stone are on the 60-day injured list as well. Henriquez, Graterol and Kershaw are expected to pitch at some point during the 2025 season.

Henriquez spent time with four Dodgers Minor League affiliates last season, going a combined 1-2 with a 2.72 ERA and 1.23 WHIP while collecting 88 strikeouts in 53 innings over 43 games (five starts).

As part of a deep farm system, Henriquez was identified last season as a Dodgers prospect who was expected to garner interest at the trade deadline.

The 22-year-old remained with the Dodgers and went on to make his MLB debut in September. Henriquez helped break a Dodgers franchise record for most pitchers with at least one save in a single season, and he was included on the team’s playoff rosters for the National League Division Series and Championship Series.

How did Edgardo Henriquez get hurt?

Given injuries to multiple relief pitchers, an opportunity began to open up for Henriquez to make the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster.

However, that possibility was eliminated in early March when he was seen in the clubhouse wearing a walking boot. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts only said at the time that Henriquez had a “mishap” away from the field.

Roberts declining to share details surrounding Henriquez’s foot injury suggested the young right-hander had a lapse in judgement. A similar scenario unfolded last season with Anthony Banda taking out frustration with an appearance by hitting left fist against a paper towel dispenser.

Banda suffered a left hand fracture that caused him to miss just over two weeks.

Roberts did offer that Henriquez was projected to miss least one month and potentially up to six weeks. When recently asked if there was an update on Henriquez’s recovery and status, Roberts did not have information.

“I saw Edgardo in D.C. for a quick minute. Given it was an ankle thing, I’m sure his arm has been moving,” Roberts said. “Hopefully we’ll see him sooner rather than later. But I’m not sure when he’s on rehab.”

Henriquez now can’t be activated until May 17.
