Dodgers Roster: Andre Lipcius Released

The Los Angeles Dodgers released Andre Lipcius from the organization after he cleared waivers, per the team’s transactions log. Lipcius is now a free agent and able to sign with any team.

The Dodgers originally acquired Lipcius from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations this past March, providing the organization with additional infield depth.

Lipcius was designated for assignment shortly after as the corresponding move to adding Daniel Hudson onto the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, but the 26-year-old cleared waivers and was sent outright to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club.

Lipcius spent the entire 2024 season with Oklahoma City, where he hit .271/.351/.458 with 26 doubles, two triples, 25 home runs and 89 RBI in 636 plate appearances (140 games).

Over his Minor League career, Lipcius has played all four infield positions in addition to the corner outfield, but is primarily a third baseman. He was picked by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

Lipcius made his Major League debut with the Tigers during the 2023 season, batting .286/.342/.400 with one double, one home run and four RBI in 38 plate appearances.

Lipcius would have struggled to find playing time with the Dodgers next season and now will get a chance to find a new home where he can potentially receive more opportunities.

Dodgers were long interested in Andre Lipcius

Shortly after being traded to the Dodgers, Lipcius told Kirsten Watson on SportsNet LA that he was excited to join the organization and had long been a target of theirs.
