The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Kyle Hurt and placed Ben Casparius on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation on Monday.

Hurt, 27, has pitched in six games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing three runs in 4.2 innings. He made seven Cactus League appearances during Spring Training year, going 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

Hurt made his Major League debut on Sept. 12, 2023, against the San Diego Padres, striking out three in three scoreless innings.

He pitched in two games in 2024 for the Dodgers, going 0-1 with a 1.35 ERA in 6.1 innings. In 2023, the Dodgers named Hurt their Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He finished the year 4-4 with a Minor League-best 152 strikeouts in 92 innings while sporting a .205 batting average against.

The Southern California native was originally drafted by the Miami Marlins in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of the University of Southern California.

Casparius, 27, last pitched on Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits in one inning of work against the Texas Rangers. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes the shoulder inflammation possibly became a factor as Casparius was looking to complete a second inning of work.

Casparius is expected to undergo an MRI to evaluate the full extent of his shoulder trouble.

He is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA in five games this season. In three seasons with the Dodgers, Casparius is 9-6 with a 4.67 ERA in 54 games. He set several career highs in 2025, making 46 appearances (including three starts) and recording 13 holds, two saves and 71 strikeouts.

Casparius flourished in the 2024 postseason, posting a 1.42 ERA with a 1-0 mark and starting Game 4 of the World Series against the New York Yankees.

He has been with the Dodgers since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB out of the University of Connecticut.

Edwin Díaz avoids injured list

Edwin Díaz has been day-to-day after experiencing a velocity drop, but the Dodgers did not believe it to be a physical issue and suggested he would not be placed on the IL.

Díaz missed the game Saturday, and his availability for Sunday was dependent on how he felt after throwing. Roberts said prior to the series opener against the New York Mets that Díaz relayed he’s feeling “great” and anticipates the closer pitching at some point against his former team.
