The Los Angeles Dodgers made their first round of Spring Training cuts on Monday, sending 11 players to Minor League camp.

The group includes pitchers Patrick Copen, Luke Fox, Jerming Rosario, Adam Serwinowski, Nick Frasso and José Rodríguez; catchers Nelson Quiroz and Chuckie Robinson, infielders Keston Hiura and Matt Gorski; and outfielder Chris Newell.

Hiura, a former top prospect of the Milwaukee Brewers, is among the most notable cuts. He signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers earlier this month and appeared in seven Cactus League games, hitting one home run.

Serwinowski, who was acquired by the Dodgers at the MLB trade deadline last year, struck out four in two scoreless appearances this spring.

Copen, Fox, Newell, Quiroz and Rosario also saw time in Cactus League play, while Frasso, Gorski, Robinson and Rodríguez have not appeared in a Cactus League game this year.

With the moves, the Dodgers’ Spring Training roster now stands at 65 players (35 position players and 30 pitchers).

Santiago Espinal trending toward making Dodgers Opening Day roster

One non-roster invitee who remains in Dodgers camp is Santiago Espinal, and he could be tracking toward making the team’s Opening Day roster.

Before the start of Cactus League play, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts named Espinal as one of the options to replace Tommy Edman at second base in the interim.

The 31-year-old has gone 6-for-11 with two doubles, two RBI and one stolen base in five Cactus League games so far.
