While all of the focus has been on their spending in free agency over the past two years, the Los Angeles Dodgers have maintained one of the best farm systems under president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman.
Among their latest accolades was recognition from MLB Pipeline, which features six Dodgers prospects on the publication’s top 100 list for the 2025 season.
The Dodgers are led by Roki Sasaki, who was ranked the No. 1 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline. Sasaki also was rated the top Dodgers prospect for the 2025 season by Baseball America.
He’s accompanied on MLB Pipeline’s rankings by Dalton Rushing at No. 30, in addition to Josue De Paula (No. 40), Jackson Ferris (71), Alex Freeland (72) and Zyhir Hope (75).
The Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners tied for the MLB Pipeline lead with seven top 100 prospects. The Dodgers’ six are tied for second with the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers. The Tampa Bay Rays and Cincinnati Reds have five each.
Of their six prospects ranked by MLB Pipeline, three were drafted by the Dodgers, two were acquired via trade, and one was an international free agent signing.
While the Cubs and Mariners have the lead with seven prospects in the top 100, they have also picked higher in the draft compared to the Dodgers who have made the playoffs in each of the past 12 seasons.
The Cubs in particular have drafted around the middle of the first round for the most part since winning the World Series in 2017, picking as high as seventh in 2022.
The Mariners have not consistently drafted as high as the Cubs in recent years due to some postseason appearances. But they drafted Harry Ford at 12th overall in 2021 and picked as high as sixth in 2020.
Comparatively, the Dodgers have achieved their success while not being at the top of the draft order for quite some time.
To make up for the disadvantage, the Dodgers have found other avenues to add talent to their farm system. They have invested heavily in international scouting and utilized the trade market to further add to their stockpile of young talent.
Top Dodgers prospects likely to debut in 2025
Sasaki will certainly be with the Dodgers, and there’s an expectation Rushing will make his MLB debut at some point during the 2025 season as well. Ferris could factor into the equation if somehow the Dodgers exhaust all of their pitching depth or simply need a fresh arm.
