Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Andy Pages and Jose Ramos each had an RBI in the 2022 Arizona Fall League (AFL) Championship Game, but it wasn’t enough for the Glendale Desert Dogs as they fell 7-6 to the Surprise Saguaros in 11 innings.
It represented the longest AFL postseason game and ended when Scott Schreiber (Houston Astros organization) delivered a walk-off RBI base hit. The game-winning hit came off Tanner Dodson, a Dodgers farmhand.
Schreiber was named AFL Championship Game MVP after leading the Saguaros to their first title since 2013. The Saguaros roster was comprised of Minor League players from the Astros, Kansas City Royals, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers.
Prior to Schreiber’s heroics, Ramos hit a solo home run in the second inning to give Glendale a 1-0 lead. However, that wound up being his only hit as Ramos had one walk and three strikeouts in four other plate appearances.

Overall in AFL play, Ramos batted .274/.330/.488 with four doubles, one triple and four home runs over 21 games with the Desert Dogs.
Meanwhile, Pages went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI double in Glendale’s loss. Pages’ extra-base hit was nearly a home run and at the time it gave Glendale a lead in the sixth inning.

Pages and Ramos were teammates for the first time and enjoyed getting to play alongside each other and learn from one another.
