There has been recent movement within the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system, headlined by Dalton Rushing, Edgardo Henriquez and Alex Freeland moving up the organizational ladder to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
With respect to others, Rushing stands out as it opens the door for an intriguing possibility for the Dodgers this year as the postseason approaches. Rushing is in his third professional season since being drafted in the second round in 2022.
Rushing is currently the top Dodgers prospect according to MLB Pipeline and is highly valued by the organization.
Meanwhile, Henriquez joined the Dodgers organization as an international free agent during the 2018-19 international class with an $80,000 signing bonus. Henriquez is having a breakout year in 2024 and has skyrocketed through the Dodgers’ system as this is his fourth promotion this season.
After starting the season with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, he has reached the highest level in the Minors. Henriquez is the Dodgers’ No. 17 ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Freeland has seen a similar rise to Henriquez, but started one level higher with High-A Great Lakes. He was selected by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft and has fulfilled the promise shown in 2020 as one of the better high school shortstop prospects. He is currently the No. 11 ranked prospect in the system according to MLB Pipeline.

Edgardo Henriquez
In his first three professional seasons in the Minors, Henriquez split his time between the bullpen and rotation. In 2021 and 2022, he settled into mostly a starting role but had mixed results.
Henriquez has exclusively pitched in relief this season since his promotion to Double-A and continues to fare well while facing increased competition.
Across all levels of the Minor Leagues this season, he owns a 2.68 ERA, 70 strikeouts and 1.02 WHIP in 40.1 innings.
Alex Freeland
Freeland was tearing the cover off of the ball for the Loons but cooled once he joined Double-A Tulsa. Freeland still was solid for the Drillers and showed some developed power with a .245 average, 15 doubles and 11 home runs. He’s played in just one game with Oklahoma City thus far.
Dalton Rushing
Rushing’s situation will be very interesting to watch develop as he shows what he can do at the Triple-A level and how he adjusts to the sudden change in position as the Dodgers could be looking for a way to get his bat onto the Major League roster.
Rushing showed a lot of promise while in Double-A, hitting .270/.378/.512 with 15 doubles, 17 home runs and 59 RBI. The power is what could get Rushing to the Majors before this season is over.
