The Arizona Fall League (AFL) announced the rosters for the 15th Fall Stars Game, which included Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Bobby Miller, Landon Knack and James Outman on the West roster.

The rosters were chosen by a combination of scouting and farm directors, AFL staff, and MLB Pipeline writers for the annual showcase of baseball’s future stars from the East and West Divisions of the Arizona Fall League.

Dodgers’ Dominican Summer League manager Jair Fernandez, who is at the helm of the Glendale Desert Dogs, and his respective coaching staff, will oversee the West roster due to his AFL team finishing the first half of the season with the best record in their division.

Miller is the most notable Dodgers prospect to be selected to the team, but he struggled in 10 innings with the Desert Dogs, allowing 11 runs in five games while walking seven and giving up 10 hits. However, Miller has also struck out 10 batters and flashed an electric fastball.

It seems Miller was selected more for the talent and upside he has, as well as his elite stuff. He has been using his time in the AFL to work on developing secondary pitches, so there is no cause for concern.

Knack has been one of the Desert Dogs most used pitchers, throwing 14.2 innings in five games and posting a 3.68 ERA. He has added 16 strikeouts with just five walks while also giving up 13 hits and six runs.

Outman has been a bit of a surprise star for Glendale, producing everything but outs. In 53 at-bats, he is hitting .340/.444/.679 with three home runs, 10 RBI and seven doubles.

His 1.124 on-base plus slugging percentage ranks sixth among all AFL players, just behind Detroit Tigers’ top prospect Spencer Torkelson and St. Louis Cardinals’ top prospect Nolan Gorman.

When is 2021 Fall Stars Game

Experimental rules that have been incorporated into the Arizona Fall League this season will be in play during the Fall Stars Game, including larger bases, defensive positioning restrictions, pitch timer and automatic strike zones.
