Dodgers Prospect Noah Miller Enjoyed Opportunity To Play Against Brother

Although the Los Angeles Dodgers parted with an infield prospect in Rayne Doncon as part of trading Manuel Margot to the Minnesota Twins, they acquired one in Noah Miller as well.

The Twins selected Miller with the 36th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. Miller is a switch-hitter but his path to the Majors is projected to be by way of being a strong defensive shortstop.

Miller made his Dodgers Spring Training debut in their split-squad game against the Milwaukee Brewers. He appeared as a pinch-runner in the sixth inning and remained in the game to play shortstop. His older brother, Owen, was in the Brewers lineup as their starting first baseman.

Following the Dodgers’ win, Noah Miller discussed his excitement with getting to play against Owen, via David Adler of MLB.com:

“It was our first time ever playing against each other,” Noah said after the game. “So it was a pretty cool, pretty exciting moment. It’s just a Spring Training game, but, hopefully, someday we’ll be able to do it in a regular season game — or a playoff game.”

While being traded could be challenging, Owen is confident being part of the Dodgers will suit Noah well:

“I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Dodgers organization, so I know he’s in good hands,” Owen said. “I think [Noah’s] got a really good opportunity over there, and it’s cool to see him in the Dodger blue.”

Miller was named a Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove winner in 2023 at shortstop after posting a .984 fielding percentage with 295 assists and 54 double plays.

However, he has yet to finish with an on-base plus slugging percentage higher than .685. In parts of Minor League three seasons, Miller has hit a combined .220 with 12 home runs and 98 RBI in 250 games.

Dodgers prospects shining in Spring Training

The Dodgers are expected to boast one of the most talented rosters in baseball this season, but Cactus League play has been an opportunity for several prospects to impress as well.

The most notable of which has been Andy Pages, and Josue De Paula garnered some attention with his first career Spring Training home run on Saturday.
